About Us

The Long Walk is a charity inspired by former AFL great and Aboriginal activist Michael Long's walk to Canberra in 2004.

Over the past four years, The Long Walk has highlighted issues that are important to Indigenous Australians through an event for people of all ages, values, beliefs, religions and cultures.

The Long Walk is one way for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians to come together and bring about community awareness and a better future for all of us.

After centuries of inequality between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australia, it is now time to ensure that ALL Australians enjoy the same basic rights.

Why do we Walk?

Justin & Linda

  1. To raise Australians' awareness and understanding of the disadvantage faced by Indigenous communities;

  2. To support Indigenous leaders actively contributing to change in their communities; and

  3. To provide meaningful opportunities for Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians to work (and walk!) together to achieve change.
