Funded Programs

In the 2008 financial year The Long Walk Trust has supported a range of programs that provide Indigenous leadership development and awareness to the wider community on Indigenous issues.

Fitzroy Stars Football Club

2008 Funded Programs - MLong & FSFC

Michael Long and Fitzroy Stars, May 2008

The Long Walk's support of the Fitzroy Stars Football Club enabled the club to pay all League affiliation fees for its teams for the 2008 season. The Club provides a home for 97 Indigenous players and encourages changes in behaviour and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle among its members and supporters. Fitzroy Stars Football Club aims to create a social, supportive and safe place for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to meet, play sport, have fun and work together in strengthening a shared community that is alcohol, prejudice and violence free, on and off the field. The player leadership group are learning to promote positive behaviour and life skills both at the club and in life in general through family, work and friends
