Win a trip to Festival Territory
If you’re in Melbourne and you’re a footy fan then head to the MCG tomorrow for the annual Dreamtime at the ‘G game, put on your beanie and you could be on your way to Festival Territory.
Tourism Minister, Malarndirri McCarthy said that the Northern Territory is Festival Territory and to celebrate, spectators at tomorrow’s Dreamtime at the ‘G match have the chance to win a $5000 trip for two to the Alice Desert Festival in September. “For a chance to win, spectators simply need to put on their beanie and get into the festival spirit at half time when the camera pans around the crowd to pick out a lucky winner who will then be shown on the big screen,” said Ms McCarthy.
“This tourism promotion is part of the Territory Government’s partnership with The Long Walk Trust during our Centenary celebrations this year. “The Dreamtime game is a special occasion and we are honoured to be part of the festivities, especially celebrating 100-years of Territory and 50,000 years of stories. “Festival Territory is a true celebration of all the NT has to offer and we invite everyone to get into the festival spirit and put on their beanies at half-time for their chance to be part of the fun.”
The prize, which is valued at $5,000, includes return economy airfares for two people to Alice Springs, four nights accommodation and tickets to the Alice Desert Festival. Minister McCarthy added that before the game, everyone is invited to join the festival fun at Federation Square. “As part of the community celebrations for The Long Walk, there will be performances from colourful circus performers and boats from the Henley-on-Todd regatta, the hilarious boat race along the dry Todd River in the NT’s Red Centre – Alice Springs,” she said.
From June to September, the NT is home to a range of quirky festivals and unique cultural events. You can back a winner in the hilarious Camel Cup or cheer on racers at Darwin’s Beer Can Regatta; celebrate indigenous culture at Alice Desert Festival or pay homage to the humblest of headgear at the Beanie Festival in Alice Springs. The AFL Dreamtime at the ‘G match takes place on Saturday 21 May, 7.45pm at the MCG.
