Every year, communities across the country walk in Michael Long's footsteps. This September, it's Brimbank's turn.
On Wednesday 2 September, Sunvale Community Park in Sunshine hosts the Little Long Walk, a free community day for families, run by Brimbank City Council and inspired by Michael Long's 650-kilometre walk to Canberra in 2004.
The day opens with a Welcome to Country and a short talk from the Long Walk team. From there it's hands-on: banner painting, traditional games and storytelling through the Marngrook program, and a chance to learn about First Nations tools and artefacts. Everyone then walks together around the park, before the Sunshine Lions Club fires up the barbecue.
All welcome.
