New website launch

A new home for The Long Walk®, online

Today we launched a new website for The Long Walk®. It replaces the site we'd outgrown, one built for selling things, stretched over the years to also handle donations, events and newsletters. It worked, mostly. It just didn't feel like us.

The new site is built to do what we actually do. You can donate straight from the page, no redirect, no checkout cart. You can find an upcoming walk or event and register in a couple of clicks. And you can read Michael Long's story the way it deserves to be told.

And the walk is only one part of what we do. The new site finally gives our programs room to breathe.

The Yarning Conference puts students and community across the table from Elders, for truth-telling and culture. Schools and councils across Melbourne in other cities already run their own, inspired by ours.

Ganbu Gulin means One Mob in Woi Wurrung language. Over six to eight weeks, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students come together for culture, history and time hearing Michael Long's own story. One school found two brothers who thought they were the only Aboriginal kids on campus. They were two of twenty.

Little Long Walks happen on your own school grounds or local community. A Long Walk Ambassador visits first, a Traditional Owner opens the day with a Welcome to Country, and then everyone walks together.

We're still adding to it. Some pages will grow over the coming months as we bring in more stories from the walkers, the programs and the communities we work with.
